From Quantum Physics to Medical Diagnostics:
The Investment Story of Grove Nanomaterials Ltd
Our Investment Journey
Grove’s investment journey began in spring 2023, when two angel investors—both former students of the Founder—provided a combined £67,500. They were soon joined by Deepbridge Capital, led by Andy Round, which made an initial £150,000 investment through the Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme (SEIS).
In 2024, Grove secured a second phase of pre-seed funding. The Development Bank of Wales, led by Linzi Plant, invested £150,000, while Deepbridge Capital provided a further £100,000 through SEIS.
This £250,000 investment was supported by a £210,000 grant from the Innovate UK Investor Partnerships programme. During the same year, Grove also secured substantial funding from the Welsh Government through the SMART Flexible Innovation Support scheme, awarded across three phases and totalling £225,000.
Further angel investment of £75,000 followed in 2025 and 2026, bringing Grove’s total commercial investment to almost £550,000.
The company also secured a £133,000 grant through VInnovate, a European cross-regional innovation programme. This brought the total value of grants awarded to Grove to more than £550,000.
The Next Stage of Growth
As of July 2026, Grove is raising a final pre-seed round of more than £300,000. This funding is intended to support the company through to a planned seed investment round in summer 2027.
By that stage, Grove expects to have established two growing revenue streams: laboratory allergy testing and international sales of its advanced nanomaterials.
